Senator Yee Issues Statement on Public Records Legislation
SACRAMENTO – Senator Leland Yee (D-San Francisco/San Mateo), who voted against a previous budget trailer bill that would have weakened the California Public Records Act, released the following statement regarding the Legislature taking up a new version of the bill:
"I am pleased that both the Senate and the Assembly have plans to ensure the California Public Records Act is protected and that government is held accountable. I have fought to protect the public's right to know for the past decade in the Legislature and that is why I could never support weakening this necessary law. As the author of a previous constitutional amendment to ensure local government compliance with the CPRA, I support any effort to fully protect this statute."
