We cannot turn away and ignore what our eyes are clearly seeing all across this nation - a federal government unhinged.

Violent raids are happening routinely. It’s unfathomably cruel. Yesterday, a nurse, last week a poet… children used as bait - in the United States of America.

It’s heartbreaking to see the terror that our own federal government is willingly unleashing in our communities.

California will never stop fighting for kindness and decency. This is a decidedly dark and inhumane time in our country.

Senate Majority Leader Angelique Ashby represents the majority of Sacramento County, including Elk Grove, Elverta, North Highlands, Rio Linda, and the City of Sacramento. She is the first woman elected to represent the metropolitan area of Sacramento in the State Senate in more than 20 years, and only the second woman ever to do so. Prior to joining the Legislature, she was elected to the Sacramento City Council in 2010.
