SACRAMENTO, CA Today, the California State Senate Leadership announced Senate Committee Assignments for the 2023-2024 Legislative Session. Senator Angelique Ashby has been appointed as Assistant Majority Whip of the Senate Democratic Leadership Team and will serve on the following committees:

• Legislative Ethics, Chair
• Joint Legislative Committee on Emergency Management, Vice Chair
• Business, Professions and Economic Development
• Governmental Organization
• Judiciary
• Appropriations
• Energy, Utilities, and Communications
• Joint Committee on Rules
• Joint Committee on Fairs Allocation and Classification

About Senator Angelique V. Ashby

Senator Angelique V. Ashby represents the majority of Sacramento County including Elk Grove, Elverta, North Highlands, Rio Linda and the City of Sacramento. She is the first woman elected to represent Sacramento in the State Senate in more than 20 years. She was elected to the Sacramento City Council in 2010, was the sole woman for more than half of her 12 year tenure, and the only member in city history to serve as Vice Mayor or Mayor pro Tem for 8 years. She is a graduate of McGeorge School of Law, and earned her baccalaureate at the University of California at Davis.
