As summer days continue to bring the heat to the Sacramento region, a new program offers families a chance to cool down by giving them free access to a community pool for the rest of the summer.

Angelique Ashby, who represents the city, said the recent storms have highlighted the need to be cautious about where trees are planted to limit injuries. “We've gained so much benefit from those big beautiful trees in Sacramento that this is the risk to being the ‘City of Trees,’” she said.
